It allows clients to fly at fixed prices inside New Zealand, between New Zealand and Australia and between New Zealand and Tahiti, Fiji, Tonga, Cook Islands, New Caledonia, Norfolk Island and Samoa. The air pass is only available to clients from Europe and is valid through to April 30 2003. Prices start at 60 Euro for domestic New Zealand flights and end at 199 Euro for flights between New Zealand and South Pacific Islands. Parts of the present terminal will be substantially altered, while other parts of the project will involve the construction of completely new areas to expand the building, which will remain single storied. The alterations will involve redesigning the present international departure area to become a domestic terminal, as well as revamping the check-in area. There will also be improvements on the international side, with more shops and a larger waiting area. Prime Air Charters plans to serve several domestic routes within the Cook Islands. The move has been hailed as good for the country because the competition with Air Rarotonga would reduce the cost of internal air travel for Cook Islanders. Prime Minister Dr. Terepai Maoate said the government is receptive to the enterprise because it is in line with the government’s private sector-driven strategy for the economy and also because the airline is externally funded. At a recent meeting, company officials told Dr. Maoate that the new airline plans to serve five island destinations immediately, and later will develop a Northern Group service.
